The Wayne County Public Library takes an active role in helping Wayne County’s youth thrive during the summer through our annual Summer Reading Program, outreach activities, special performances, and more. This year will be a little different, but no less fun! Beginning the week of June 22, we will be airing programs most weekdays for 7 weeks, ending these special programs on August 6. Our theme this year is “Imagine Your Story,” and we will hear many folktales, myths, legends, and old stories told in new and exciting ways. We’ve partnered with some great performers, as well as the Wayne County Public School System and the County of Wayne, so you’ll be able to see our programs not only on the library’s Facebook and YouTube channels, but also on your local cable channels (18 and 10).
You can enjoy our programs on your TV or device, but you should register to get the whole Summer Reading experience! When you register, you’ll receive a Summer Adventure Packet, which will include craft supplies and activities for your family to use to follow along with us at home and to have your own fun whenever you please. You will also receive your reading log. Track how much you read each day, show us your log throughout the summer, and earn prizes!
Registration will begin May 11. To ensure you receive your Summer Adventure Packet before our programs begin, register before June 5. You can still register at any time throughout the summer and receive a packet!
We are so thrilled to spend another summer with you, and are looking forward to imagining and writing the next part of our story together.
