Global Road Warrior provides access to a wide variety of country-specific information for both students and travelers. From basic country facts and demographics to business, cultural and travel information, Global Road Warrior offers easy access to this information to anyone with a Wayne County Public Library card. to access, simply enter your library barcode number on the login screen. HOt Optimal Resume
If you need to create a resume, let Optimal Resume guide you through the process. This resume making tool allows users to easily create a professional resume without the typical hassles often associated with resume writing. Optimal Resume offers a wide array of formatting options, and users can easily customize their resume to match the type of job for which they are applying. The resource also allows users to write a cover letter, build and post an online resume, develop an online portfolio, and even create a video resume. HOt Small Business Resource Center
Small Business Resource Center The Small Business Resource Center is a comprehensive database that covers all major areas of starting, operating and maintaining a small business. It covers topics such as finance, management, marketing, accounting, taxes and more to help enhance business start up and longevity. It is available to all Wayne County Public Library card holders both in the library buildings and from home.

Academic Search Premier
Academic Search Premier, is a Multi-disciplinary full text database containing full text for nearly 4,700 publications, including more than 3,600 peer-reviewed publications. In addition to the full text, this database offers indexing and abstracts for nearly 8,200 journals in the collection. This scholarly collection offers information in nearly every area of academic study including: computer sciences, engineering, physics, chemistry, language and linguistics, arts & literature, medical sciences, ethnic studies, and many more. Academic Search Premier offers peer-reviewed full text journals and critical information from many sources unique to this database.

America’s Genealogy Bank via News Bank
America’s Genealogy Bank contains historical and genealogical information.  The database includes access to historical newspapers, books, pamphlets, pension requests, orphan petitions, land grants, and more. This subscription is available to WCPL card holders from home.  

America’s Obituary and Death Notices
America’s Obituary and Death Notices contains full text obituaries from a variety of United States newspapers. This database includes almost twenty North Carolina newspapers. 

Ancestry Library Edition
Ancestry Library Edition contains a wide range of genealogical and historical information. This database includes thousands of resources including the U.S. Census 1790-1930, passenger lists, vital record indexes and WWI draft registration cards. This subscription is available for in-library use only. 

Biography Resource Center  
This database includes biographies from award-winning reference publications and full-text articles from hundreds of periodicals. Search for people by name or by criteria such as birth and death year, nationality, ethnicity, occupation and gender.  This subscription is available at all Wayne County Public Library buildings and to WCPL card holders from home.

Biography Resource Center: African Americans  
The content of this database is available in Biography Resource Center. This subset of BRC allows easy access to nearly 30,000 narrative and thumbnail biographies about notable African-Americans. Enhancing the reference content are full-text periodical articles, websites, and recent update news briefs. Search on name, personal facts such as birth/death dates and place, occupation, and gender, or combine criteria to create a targeted custom search.

Books in Print  
Find the materials that you’re interested in by searching Books in Print. This database give you access to details about over 5 million books, videos, and audio books, including almost a million reviews. You can search by author, title, subject, ISBN, and more. Limit your search results by age level, format, price range, and publication year. Access to this database is limited in-library to the Main Branch only. Remote access is available to library card holders. A username and password is necessary for both in-library and remote access. Call or visit the Reference Desk to obtain the login information. The number to call is 919-735-1824 ext. 5100. You will be asked for your library card number when you call.

Fiction Connection  
Discover new reading material with Fiction Connection. Search for books by topic, genre, setting, character, location, or timeframe. You can also find books that are similar to titles or authors that you have already read. Access to this database is limited in-library to the Main Branch only. Gale Virtual Reference Library
Gale Virtual Reference Library is a collection of online reference books.  Topics covered include arts, education, environment, history, medicine, multi-cultural studies, religion, science and social science.  This subscription is made possible through NC LIVE (see the entry below for further details).  It is available at all Wayne County Public Library buildings and to WCPL card holders from home.

Heritage Quest
Heritage Quest is available free only through WCPL’s NC LIVE subscription, Heritage Quest allows patrons to search the Freedman’s Bank, Revolutionary War records, books and the US Census from 1790-1930. Remote access is available with the current NC LIVE password. Ask a reference librarian for assistance.

Home Improvement Reference Center   
The Home Improvement Reference Center provides full text access to a wide selection of home improvement and repair Reference sources, including over 10,000 images, full text journal articles, and nearly 100 online videos featuring common home repair projects. In addition to full text searches, users can also use a handy A-Z browsing tool to find their topic of choice. Home improvement topics include: home repair, maintenance, outdoor improvement, home and garden decorating, wood projects, electrical work, plumbing, and remodeling. For remote access, cardholders may obtain a password by visiting or calling the Reference Desk, 735-1824.

Literature Resource Center
Literature Resource Center is the most comprehensive literature database available.  It contains thousands of critical essays, work overviews, contextual essays, author biographies, journal articles, author portraits and definitions of literary terms. LRC can be used at all Wayne County Public Library buildings and at home for all WCPL card holders.

NC LIVE
NC LIVE is a collection of online databases available to library patrons, students, and educators from North Carolina’s public libraries, community colleges, state university system, and members of the North Carolina Association of Independent Colleges and Universities.  This resource includes thousands of full-text articles, electronic books, downloadable audiobooks, and specialized databases covering topics such as history and genealogy, business and investing, education and psychology, health and medicine, and literature and art.  NC LIVE can be accessed at any of the institutions listed above and at home with a special password.  Wayne County Public Library can provide its card holders with the password over the telephone at 919-735-1824 ext. 4 during its normal business hours.

Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center 
Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center is a comprehensive database which covers today’s social issues. It includes viewpoint articles, topic overviews, full-text magazine and newspaper articles, primary source documents, statistics, images and links to websites providing additional information and arguments.  OVRC is available at all Wayne County Public Library buildings and to WCPL card holders from home.
