            H. H. HOBBS – Sanitary Plumbing. -  It may be said that Mr. H. H. Hobbs operates one of the largest and most successful businesses of this kind in the Eastern part of the State.  He is a distinct leader in the business in Goldsboro, and has a magnificent show room at 207 North John Street, with phone connection 202.  He gives employment to a number of highly skilled workmen and is prepared to execute all kinds of plumbing contracts.  He deals in plumbing and electrical fixtures, bath tubs, lavatories and closets.  He does difficult repairing of all kinds, also cleaning and repairing of typewriters as well as electrical work of every character.  Mr. Hobbs has benn [sic] established for fourteen years and is regarded as a highly gifted expert in the trade.

 

            W. S. TAYLOR – Sales Stables. – Mr. Taylor is a dealer in fine horses and mules, also buyer and shipper of truck and dealer in brick, plastering, concrete sand and white sharp sand.  He has been established in the business for upwards of seven years, and during this time has built up an enormous trade, giving employment to a number of workmen and wagons in the execution of contracts.  He has been operating the sales stables since the first of January, 1913.  Mr. Taylor personally looks after the management of his business and is widely known throughout the entire county.  Mr. Taylor always has a good word for Goldsboro and does all he can for the good of the city.

 

            GOLDSBORO MILLINERY STORE. – This is an enterprise of merit and is firmly established in the confidence of the public. Mrs. Lena D. Tudor is the Proprietress of the business and has been operating same for the past two years.  She makes a specialty of fine and fashionable millinery and at her store we find all the latest novelties of the Season.  She employs expert milliners and keeps in close touch with the prevailing styles, and whatever is being worn in New York and Paris, the same can be found in this store in Goldsboro.  Mrs. Tudor has a perfect knowledge of the requirements of the trade and is meeting with unusual success in the conduct of the business.  Her store is nicely appointed and is always visited with keen pleasure especially during the busy Season when the stock is up to the very highest standard.

 

            JOHN S. DORTCH – Electrical Contractor.  “Everything Electrical.”  Phone 46.  – There is no line of commercial and industrial endeavor or trade that requires the preparation, skill and technical knowledge essential to the carrying on of the business, as does that of the electrical contractor.  In this connection it may be said that Mr. John S. Dortch has built up a high reputation for himself and has had a lifetime experience commencing at the age of ten.  He has equipped himself with every necessary requisite to carry on the business and he has executed many important contracts throughout this community. He is progressive, practical, scientific, skilled and his work is noted for its high character and general excellence.  He carries a complete stock of electrical fixtures and supplies and does all kinds of electrical work.   Estimates cheerfully furnished.

 

            C. E. CROOM – Tin and Sheet Metal Worker.  No account of the various lines of industry represented here would be complete without due notice to the large business operated by Mr. C. E. Croom.  This gentleman has been established for fifteen years and has built up an immense trade giving employment to a number of skilled workmen.  He does all kinds of sheet metal work, tin and slate rooffing [sic], plumbing, stoves, stove pipe, tobacco flues and general repairing.  The shop is located at 205 West Center Street, North, and has phone 37-J.  Mr. Croom was born in Wilmington, North Carolina, has had practical experience of thirty years in the business and before permanently locating in Goldsboro followed his trade in leading cities all over the United States.

 

            AUDITORIUM STABLES. – Mr. S. V. Lewis is the proprietor of this business which is devoted to that of boarding, livery and transfer.  The stables are admirably located, very convenient to the business district of Goldsboro at the corner of West Center and Muberry [sic] Streets.  The office has phone 116, and all calls for livery are answered promptly.  Mr. Lewis provides stylish and up-to-date livery and good gentle driving horses at reasonable rates.  In ordering turnouts from the Auditorium Stables it is with the full assurance of getting satisfaction.  Mr. Lewis is a young man favorably known throughout the city and vicinity.  He is a native of Sampson County and has made Goldsboro his home for the past six years.
