            WILLIAMS DRUG STORE. – Mr. W. V. Williams is the proprietor of this drug store, which is one of the most notable establishments of this kind in the City.  Mr. Williams is a most able and accomplished prescription pharmacist and has had upwards of thirty-five years’ experience in the profession.  He was born in Wake County near Raleigh, practiced in that City for about fifteen years and came to Goldsboro about twenty years ago.  In the conduct of the business he has met with unusual success, and given to Goldsboro one of her most reliable and dependable Pharmacies.  The stock of Drugs, Medicines, Chemicals, Sundries, Sick Room Requisiters, etc., has been carefully selected.  Mr. Williams also carries a complete stock of assorted articles, garden seed, fancy goods, etc.  Special attention is given to the accurate compounding of prescriptions.  Mr. Williams has always had for his motto “Live and let live,” right goods, right prices and right treatment.

 

            GOLDSBORO DRUG COMPANY. – Wholesale and Retail Druggists. The business of this concern has been successfully established since 1898.  The company is incorporated.  The following well known gentlemen are its officers, Messrs. C. B. Miller, President and Treasurer, and R. B. Miller, Vice-President.  The motto of this company has always been “Safety, Efficiency, Quality.”  They operate two immense houses, one of which is devoted exclusively to the wholesale trade, while the other or retail house occupies location in the very heart of the business district of Goldsboro at the Northwest Corner of Walnut and Center Streets.  This store is magnificently appointed according to the most advanced Ideas of the business.

 

            GOLDSBORO BUGGY COMPANY. – The Goldsboro Buggy Company are manufacturers of high-grade buggies, surries and runabouts.  This business was established in 1893 and incorporated in 1900.  They have a capacity of 3,000 jobs per year and are now turning out 2,500 vehicles annually.  Their best known product is the Goldsboro buggy, which is sold principally throughout the South.  It is one of the greatest industries of the town and one of which the city should feel proud. 

 

            H. L. BIZZELL, Wholesale and Retail Dealer in Grain, Hay and Provisions.  219 West Walnut Street, phone 105. It is almost an invariable rule that in all business centers there are certain houses in each line of trade that stand pre-eminent and have by close attention to business built up a liberal and substantial patronage.  Such an establishment is that of Mr. H. L. Bizzell, who has been in business for a number of years, and since July, 1913, has been operating under his own name.  An immense stock is carried and orders are promptly filled at lowest market quotations.  A complete force of assistants are employed in the store and all departments are under the able and direct supervision of the proprietor.  Mr. Bizzell is honorable and upright in his dealings and popular with the trade.

 

            CAROLINA RICE MILLS. – Among the gigantic industries in Goldsboro none are of greater importance than the Carolina Rice Mills. This company purchases the rough rice from the planter, after which it is put through the milling process and turned out for sale in bags, barrels, and small cartoons [sic].  The capacity of the plant is 1,100 bushels per day.  It is one of the immense enterprises of the town, and has proven a potent factor in the upbuilding of the community.

 

SOUTHERN COTTON OIL COMPANY. – This plant crushes ten thousand tons of cotton seed annually and has a capacity of one hundred tons daily.  Seventy-five men are employed on an annual pay roll of $20,000.  The Goldsboro plant comprises six buildings and covers five acres of ground.  Goldsboro is the district headquarters of the Southern Cotton Oil Company.  The location of this plant at Goldsboro facilitates the marketing of the planter’s product, being prepared to take the product from the wagon and return the finished article.

 

A. A. MILLER – Photographer and Dealer in Photographic Supplies.  139 North West Center Street. – In few branches of arts has such marked progress been made during the last quarter of a century as in photography, and it may be said that Mr. A. A. Miller has kept fully abreast of the times and is thoroughly familiar with all the latest developments and achievements in the industry.  Mr. Miller is a practical artist, and his love for the picturesque exhibits itself in every detail of his business.  His reception room and studio are tastefully arranged and conveniently located on the ground floor.  Fine photographs of all kinds as well as enlargements are executed with rare skill.  His fidelity to detail, brilliancy of touch, originality and graceful posing, proves that Mr. Miller is an artist of rare skill and judgment.  He is one of the largest dealers in photographic supplies in the State.  Mr. Miller has been in the business since 1885, has made a decided success, and has one of the highest ratings in Bradstreet’s and Dunn’s Commercial Agency of any businessman in the city.
