THE
CLEMENT STUDIO OF PHOTOGRAPHY. –
It may be said that Goldsboro
has one of the most gifted Photographers of the State in the person of Mr. A.
O. Clement, proprietor of the above studio, which is located in the very heart
of the business district of the city at 115 West Center Street. Mr. Clement is thoroughly conversant with
every detail of the profession and is a highly gifted artist turning out work
that is unsurpassed as regards its high quality and general excellence. The walls of the studio contain many
beautiful specimens of his work. His
partonage [sic] comes from the best classes of trade. Mr. Clement has had upwards of nine years
experience and has a magnificent equipment including the very latest apparatus
known to the profession as well as the most expensive and modern lenses,
especially suited to each branch of the art, both interior and exterior. Mr. Clement is a young man and one of the
most popular and progressive citizens of Goldsboro. He is clever and accommodating and highly
accomplished in the art of turning out perfect peortraitur [sic].
BORDEN
BRICK AND TILE COMPANY. – Manufacturers of High Grade Building Brick. This is a very important industry in the
Manufacturing activity in Goldsboro. The Company is incorporated and was organized
about four years ago. The officers are
Messrs. F. K. Borden, Jr., President, and F. B. Daniels, Secretary and
Treasurer. This plant is one of the most
modern in the world and manufactures the finest building brick made in the
State. The plant has a capacity of two
million brick per month and employment is given to a large number of
workmen. The products find a ready sale
throughout many states. The
Superintendent of this plant is Mr. Charles A. Lano, who has had a life time
experience in the brick making industry and was formerly located in Toledo, Ohio.
GOLDSBORO
INSURANCE & REALTY COMPANY. – Insurance,
Real Estate & Loans. This
company may be said to occupy a foremost and conspicuous position in the
Insurance and Realty Interests of Goldsboro.
The Company is solidly established and has a clientage among the most
influential and representative business and professional men of Goldsboro and
vicinity. The Company has handsomely
fitted up offices and transacts a general business in handling Insurance, Real
Estate and Loans. In the Insurance
department they write all kinds of insurance and represent thirty-two of the
strongest Insurance Companies of the world.
The members of the Goldsboro Insurance and Realty Company are: Messrs.
W. H. Winstead, President, Sam Bridgers, Vice President and Manager, Z. T.
Brown, Secretary and Treasurer, and Herndon W. Tuttle, Assistant Secretary and
Treasurer. These gentlemen are popular
and widely known and have at heart the best interests of the City.

D. TAYLOR & CO. – Wholesale and Retail Dealers in heavy and fancy
groceries, country produce and specialty, Brokers and Commission
Merchants. An establishment under
the able management of Mr. C. D. Taylor and worthy of special notice in this
publication is that above named, and located at 206 East Walnut Street. This business has been established for some
15 years and the trade has steadily increased.
The firm has established a reputation for honesty and fair dealing and
has gained the confidence of many patrons.
Only the best goods are handled in all lines while the prices are
reasonable and every courtesy is extended to patrons. This is a good store at which to make your
headquarters for good things to eat.
SINGER
SEWING MACHINE COMPANY. – Among all the aids to housekeeping that have ever
been invented, none surpass in importance the sewing machine. Standing out as the best and leading sewing
machine in the world is the Singer
which has been in use for upwards of half a century, and has never been excelled
either in reliability, duribility [sic], ease of running and keeping in good
order and its merits have been recognized by the world famous Expositions which
have accorded the Company Diplomas and Medals.
The office of the Singer Company in Goldsboro occupies location at 113 West Walnut St. Mr. J.C. Adams is the Manager of the business
at this point and has been here since September, 1913. He has been with the Company, however, for
about seven years, formerly in the Baltimore
office. Mr. Adams is a young man and is
thoroughly versed in every detail of industry.
The business from this point covers five counties, throughout which
territory twenty salesmen travel in the interest of the business.
