T.
H. STANTON. - This gentleman who is equally as well
known as “Old Tom” Stanton is one of Goldsboro’s successful
and prosperous business men. He has been
associated with the wholesale and retail trade of Goldsboro for the past
nineteen years, having for a number of years been manager of a big corporation
until 1909, when he opened up business under his own name of T. H.
Stanton. He has built up an immense
business and gives employment to eight people in the variuos [sic]
departments. His house is located at 128 North John Street. He is a wholesale and retail harness
manufacturer and light hardware dealer, manufacturer of harness of every
description, repairing of all kinds, glass, oils and paints, bicycles, sporting
goods, general gun and bicycle repair shop expert on typewriters and iron
safes.
J.
T. GINN & CO. – Wholesale Grocers. Phone 38. - There are certain Goldsboro enterprises which are so well known
and established in public favor that they merit more than passing notice in this
publication pertaining to the interest of the city. The members of this firm are Messrs. J. T.
Ginn and A. A. McCrary, and the firm has been organized for about five
years. Of Mr. Ginn it may be said that
he has been in the business for thirty-two years while Mr. McCrary has a
thorough and complete detail of the trade.
They have built up a tremendous busines [sic] and carry an immense stock
and make extensive shipments in all directions from Goldsboro, while their patronage is among the
leading retailers. Messrs. Ginn and
McCrary are clever business men, popular citizens and great believers in the
prosperity of Goldsboro.
THE
PALACE DRUG STORE. - This is unquestionably one of the most
popular and strictly reliable drug houses of Goldsboro.
It occupies a very desirable location at the corner of E. Center and Mulberry Street. The proprietors of the business are Messrs.
T. N. Waters and G. W. Waters, both of whom have been prominent business men of
the city for a number of years. They
also operate an immense business in the line of dry goods, notions, etc., under
the name of T. N. Waters & Bro., located at 142 East Center Street, North. The drug store is under the able management
of Mr. G. W. Waters, Jr., who is a practical pharmacist thoroughly versed and
skilled in every detail of the profession.
A specialty is made of the compounding of prescriptions. The stock comprises a full line of drugs and
sundries, toilet articles, fancy goods, etc.
At the soda fountain all the popular drinks of the season are served.
JOHN
M. GRANTHAM – Mules and Horses, Buggies, Wagons and Harness. Big Team Mules a Specialty. - Mr. John M. Grantham having been
established in business for upwards of twenty years, is regarded as one of the
pioneer dealers in horses and mules in this city. Mr. Grantham has a large stable, located on John Street
opposite the Postoffice. The stables are
155 x 200 feet in dimensions, part of which is two floors. The concern presents an attractive appearance
and it is one of the busiest markets for the sale of horses and mules in Goldsboro. Mr. Grantham has a reputation second to none
in the trade and is absolutely reliable in his dealings. He is a popular and progressive citizen and
widely known throughout the city and county.
COOK
DRUG COMPANY. – Proprietors of the Imperial Pharmacy. – E. S. Cook, Manager. This
is one of the most prominent Drug Stores of the City of Goldsboro.
It is conducted in a very superior manner under the able management of
Mr. E. S. Cook who has been practicing the profession of Pharmacy for some
fourteen years. He is conducting the
business according to the highest ethics and enjoys a very liberal patronage
among the leading families of the city.
The stock carried is one of the largest in Goldsboro and the equipment is in strict
accordance to the modern ideas and requirements of the trade. Prescriptions are accurately compounded. The Soda Fountain is one of the finest and
most popular in the City. In every sense
of the word this pharmacy is a distinct credit to the city and presents a very
inviting appearance and occupies perhaps the most prominent corner in Goldsboro.
