GOLDSBORO CONFECTIONERY
STORE. - This
high class confectionery store is located at 116 Walnut St. East. The proprietors are Messrs. Paul Leatos
and Louis Manos, who are meeting with
fine success in the conduct of the business.
The proprietors are young and enterprising gentlemen and well know to
the high class trade of Goldsboro,
having been in business here for several years.
They are now putting in a new and up-to-date Soda fountain and much
improvement is being made throughout the place in general so that it is one of
the most attractive in Goldsboro. It is headquarters for fruits, ice-cream,
cold drinks, candies and cigars.

B. PATE. - Groceries. – This gentleman is located at the corner of John and
Holly Streets and has been established in business since 1906. He has an exceedingly good store and carries
one of the best stocks to be found in Goldsboro. It consists of high grade staple and fancy
groceries, fresh meats, grain, hay, corn, oats, cotton seed hulls, meal,
etc. He makes a specialty of country
produce and is very careful in the selection of his stock. The store has phone connection No. 22, and
all orders receive prompt attention. Mr.
Pate is well known throughout Goldsboro,
popular with the trade and does all he can for the community.
J. W. LANE - Grocer. - This gentleman has been one of the city’s
merchants for a number of years and has conducted stores in various
locations. He is now located at 732 North John Street,
and has phone number 493-L. Mr. Lane
deals in all kinds of heavy and fancy groceries, country produce, eggs, cured
meats, dry goods, notions, shoes, ladies’ and gents’ furnishing goods. Mr.
Lane wants your patronage and strives hard to give
satisfaction. He handles the very best
goods and sells at reasonable prices.
HENLEY
FURNITURE COMPANY. - The head of this concern is Mr. T. A.
Henley. He is thoroughly versed in every
detail of the furniture industry and operates one of the best stores in the
City. He has been engaged in business
for a number of years. The present store
has been operated since November 15th, 1913. This company is incorporated and has ample
capital for the successful conduct of the business. They have the most liberal terms and
inducements to offer to the trade. They
do both a wholesale and retail business handling all kinds of fine and medium
grades of furniture and house furnishings.
A specialty is made of furnishing homes complete either for cash or on
easy payments.

PHILIP. – Dealer in all kinds of clothing for men, ladies and children. This gentleman is located at 131 East Walnut Street. Mr. Philip is one of the young business men
of Goldsboro and has been engaged in business in this city for about six years,
but was a traveling man until Christmas, when he purchased the large business
at the above address and has greatly added to the stock and is making this
store one of the most popular in the city.
He keeps three clerks busy waiting upon the trade. The stock is large and consists of stylish
and up-to-date and fashionable goods.
Mr. Philip is very courteous and polite and works hard to please and
satisfy customers by giving them the best quality goods and lowest prices.

H. ODOM. – This gentleman is a dealer
in Choice Beef, Pork, Sausage, etc., and all kinds of products usually
handled in first class meat markets. Mr.
Odom is located at 223 North John
Street, and has been established in this line of
business since October, 1913. Mr. Odom
has a clean and sanitary market thoroughly screened and deals in the choicest
of meats at reasonable prices. Mr. Odom
was born and reared in Sampson county but has been a resident of Goldsboro for the past
twenty years. He invites you to make his
market headquarters for meat.
JNO. O. ROYALL & SONS –
Wholesale Manufacturers of Royall’s High Grade Ice Cream and Dealers in
Groceries, Fruits and Confections. -
This
is one of the city’s most prominent enterprises. Mr. John O. Royall has been in
business for many years and is also proprietor of Royall’s Fruit Store on Center Street,
which is unquestionably the finest enterprise of its kind in the city. It has a handsome Soda fountain and all the
popular drinks of the season are served, and the finest makes of candies are
handled. The members of this firm are
Messrs. John O. Royall and two Sons, W. S. Royall and John O. Royall, Jr. They have been operating their store on West Mulberry Street
for about three years and carry a very choice stock of everything good to
eat. The place is perfectly clean and
sanitary and the products which are turned out from the ice cream plant and
unsurpassed as regards purity, high quality and general excellence.
MRS. E. J. DENKINS.-
Millinery. If any one wants evidence of what a fine
millinery store ought to be like, they would do well to pay a visit to the
attractive establishment of Mrs. E. J. Denkins, located in the Weil Building of North John Street
near the Post office. This is certainly
one of the handsomest stores of its kind in the State and has been opened for
business since March 1st, 1914.
Mrs. Denkins is a woman of large experience in the handling of millinery
and has already built up a very satisfactory business. She carries a beautiful stock consisting of
the most fashionable Millinery which is sold at extremely reasonable
prices. This is an interesting store and
is headquarters for choice millinery.
J. A. VINSON – This gentleman is operating one of the
best equipped and largest enterprises of the kind in the city, that of wholesale
and retail dealer in Coal, Wood, Shingles and Laths. His yards have a railroad siding and equipped
with all necesasry [sic] conveniences for the successful and economic handling
of the products. Mr. Vinson has been
established in this business since January, 1913, and has built up a very
satisfactory trade. Mr. Vinson was born
and reared near Goldsboro,
is a gentleman of excellent standing, well known and popular.
